We provide a full range of multi-modal transport planning services such as access and parking feasibility studies, public transport accessibility studies and advice in relation to new developments.
Preparation of Transport Assessments and Statements that are consistent with National and Local Guidelines throughout the UK which evaluate the multi modal implications and identify requirements for any transport mitigation measures associated with planning applications.
Some schemes impact significantly on the environment and this is assessed through environmental assessments or statements. We prepare the traffic and transport section that incorporates the results of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements to be included in the overall environmental submission.
We provide three dimensional detailed design services for new highways and improvements to existing highways. This Highway Design service includes liaising with highway authorities on Section 278/38 Agreements and obtaining the necessary technical approvals. Software services provided include AutoCad, PDS, Key Sign and Key Post. In addition to undertaking detailed design, we also prepare necessary specification and contract documents, and administer contracts.
We offer a full range of junction design services from preliminary design through to detailed design and supervision and delivery of the works.
As part of our detailed highway design service we also provide drainage design services using WinDes software, from feasibility through to detailed design of foul and surface water drainage systems including attenuation measures. We liaise with drainage authorities and governing bodies in relation to Section 104 Agreements.
As part of our detailed design service we use a number of specialist street lighting design consultants. We consider that the specialist nature of this work warrants this collaborative approach. Our specialist consultants allow us to incorporate the street lighting design into the overall detailed design package or alternatively critically appraise other street lighting designs which may be carried out by the Local Highway Authority.
Incorporating Building Information Modelling (BIM) into projects is fast becoming a necessity for many clients and developers. We are utilising the latest AutoCAD Civils 3D software to provide detailed 3D highway design which can output detailed long-sections, plans and earthworks quantities. The models created by this software are fully interactive with structural engineering packages such as Revit.
We provide a micro simulation transport modelling service using the industry recognised software package VISSIM. Within the Practice we have staff with the knowledge and experience to use VISSIM to model a range of scenarios from simple signalised junctions to large multi-junction networks.
We have expertise and experience within the practice to critically appraise strategic modelling results and offer advice on the results to others. We have the capabilities to identify the scope of works and issue appropriate commissions.
We offer a full range of Traffic Signal Modelling services using LinSig and TRANSYT modelling software to design new junctions and improvements to existing junctions. The LinSig and TRANSYT modelling results are then used to undertake the detailed design of traffic schemes.
We have the capability to commission traffic signals installations including carrying out the necessary factory and site acceptance tests.
We have experienced Road Safety Auditors who undertake Stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 Road Safety Audits of highway and junction designs and also site layouts, including car parks. David Bell now holds the Road Safety Audit - Highways Agency Approved Certificate of Competency. This means that we can now offer a Road Safety Audit Team service that complies fully with the experience requirements of GG119 and IAN 152/11 and therefore permits us to carry out audits on the Trunk Road Network. A significant number of Local Highway Authorities are also now applying the same requirements for Road Safety Audits on the local road network and therefore the certificate enhances our service in this area.
We provide a full range of Expert Witness services for Planning Appeals including Hearings and Inquiries, Examinations in Public and Arbitration. We have 6 experienced Expert Witnesses who have presented evidence at Inquiries. Our witnesses achieve a higher success rate than is typically achieved at planning appeals.
We undertake feasibility assessments to identify new access schemes, access improvement schemes, off site transport mitigation schemes and site layout schemes including servicing and car parking arrangements. The work undertaken at the feasibility assessment stage includes identifying the risks, costs and timescales to deliver schemes.
Preparation, implementation and monitoring Travel Plans for a variety of land uses, including commercial, leisure and retail uses, the emphasis of which is to encourage travel to and from the site by means other than single occupancy car use. We have an extensive database of Travel plans that enables us to develop tailored Travel Plans for future developments.
When the Travel Plan is approved by the Local Planning Authority the implementation of the Travel Plan requires the appointment of a Travel Plan Co-ordinator. Bryan G Hall has extensive experience in acting as a Travel Plan Co-ordinator and is currently acting as Travel Plan co-ordinators for a number of clients.
We provide a full range of sustainable accessibility services and feasibility studies into existing, new and enhanced public transport provision. We are experienced in negotiation appropriate Section 106 subsidies including bus subsidies, with bus operators and local authorities, and we have a wide range of experience in evaluating the costs of public transport services.
All senior and many junior staff are experienced in participating in public consultation events for schemes including public meetings and exhibitions and other events with statutory and non-statutory consultees.
We prepare and negotiate Highway Stopping Up and Diversion Orders including Footpath Diversion/Stopping Up Orders. We also offer assistance to local highway authorities in preparing and delivering any necessary Traffic Regulation Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which are required for the implementation of schemes granted planning permission.
Bryan G Hall is accredited with the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) and Safety Management Advisory Services Limited (SMAS) as contractor, designer and principal designer.
